I have moved my seedlings under my grow light for the last few days. I had several tomatoes germinate in like 5 days. I was waiting for this shelf to arrive and man they shot up quick. Now I know what it means to have "leggy seedlings". Luckily I planted so many and some haven't germinate yet. So I can get rid of the leggy ones if I need to and just keep the good ones. We will see how they do.
This is the shelf, I am very satisfied for the money I spent.
Fits perfect in my little seed starting area in my laundry room.
As you can see, the ones that germinated early got leggy.

Your "leggy" tomatoes can fill out and still grow nicely now that they're under full light :) Love the new table setup!
I don't mind leggy tomatoes at all. After they get a few true leaves, pot them up into larger containers (I use 16 oz. plastic drinking cups with a hole in the bottom for drainage) and bury every bit of that long stem down into the potting mix. Roots will grow all along the stem, making a nice sturdy plant. I've done the same with peppers and brassicas, all with good results.
Grrrr...I'm never going to make it past the CAPTCHA words this time :-( Why, oh why did Blogger do this to us?
Jenny - Thanks, I am really happy with the table too. I hope I can use some of these tomatoes. I will probably give some away too.
Granny - Thanks for that tip. I guess that is what I will be doing then. I don't know why blogger had to make two verification words either. It wouldn't be so bad if they weren't so hard to read.
Kris - you can disable verification. It's under Settings - Comments - scroll down and check No for Show Word verification
Jenny, thanks for that information. I have disabled it now.
