Garden Harvests - July 23, 2013

Please visit and like my new facebook page Georgia Home Garden.

I am still around even though I haven't been blogging.  My garden is not gonna be much this year, partly due to my neglect, but partly because of rain.  It rains every day it seems.  While the last two years were so dry, this year has more than made up for it.  This one post shows all my harvests for the whole year.  There will be more to come, but it won't be much.

So far this year, I have a grand total of 10 pounds of harvests, and here they are.

Habanero Peppers

Batch of tomatoes, I have had a few more but not many.

Hungarian Wax Peppers

Bell Peppers

Yellow squash

Your harvest looks very pretty, and sorry that you're not happy with all this rain. it's been 95-98 for couple of weeks and not a drop and we almost lost everything. Thankfully storm finally brought some rain last night so still hope for recovery. Hope your garden will improve and pick up on production!

The harvest may be small, but it's beautiful! It's been a bad gardening year for so many. Either to hot or too cold, to wet or too dry or too windy. It seems nobody can get a break in this weather. We're supposed to begin cooling down (into the 90s) by this weekend, and the long term outlook for the next month might actually be in the 80s! That will be a blessed relief, as it's awfully hard to get enthusiastic about gardening in 100-plus degree heat!

My harvest has been smaller too and my blogging has been really sparse as well. Your veggies look great though. I planted some Asian string beans. Ever hear of those? They're very, very long and have done really well with all the rain. The zucchini and squash did not do well and the tomatoes are slow in ripening. Oh well.
I hope you're settling in to your new home.

Jenny - Thanks and it sounds like you guys are having the weather we normally have. Our last few years has been so dry and hot. This year we have stayed consistently in the 80s with so much rain. It has only started to dip in the low 90's.

Granny - Wow, 100 degree weather is no place to be gardening. We haven't been anywhere near that this year. I have been trying to stain my privacy fence for 10 weeks now. I can't seem to get a 3-4 day stretch of dry weather to do my staining. It is taking me forever but hopefully I will finish it this month.

Bernadine - No, I have not heard of those beans before but I am not a bean expert. I had bad luck with zukes and squash this year too. I planted 8 squash and 4 zucchini plants, and I only got 3 squash and 1 zucchini. I have thought about replanting in august for a fall harvest, but I just can't seem to find the time.
