I planted red and white zinnias around my mailbox last year and they turned out great. This year I decided to only plant white ones because they had bigger blooms and looked better. They have finally started to open up and slowly bloom and I can't wait to see how they look this year.
On another note, my Lorax seed experiment with my daughter failed and the Lorax tree did not make it. I felt bad for her so I told her that I would buy her the tallest, largest, and most beautiful sunflower seeds I could find and that we could plant them around the mailbox. She was excited of course, but I knew at the time the sunflowers were going to be huge next to the zinnias.
My wife thought I was crazy planting something that will grow 7 to 10 feet around our mailbox, but I told her what my baby girl wants my baby girl gets. LOL I tried to plant the sunflowers around the perimeter of the zinnias. They are about three feet tall and dwarf the zinnias already. Here are a few pics.

I love zinnias. They are so easy to grow and attract butterflies. I saved some seed from last year, separating the white ones. I have planted them with my Scarlet Runners, and they are up, but they aren't blooming yet.
Very nice and I love zinnias too. Hope to plant seeds tonight.

Cristy - I planted mine in mid March so it took them about two months to bloom. They are definitely easy if I can grow them.
