Garden Harvests - June 11, 2012

Please visit and like my new facebook page Georgia Home Garden.

The last of the corn was harvested this week.
I ate fresh corn for dinner a few times this week.

Here are a few more bags ready for the freezer.

Last big batch of peaches and cream corn
Final total from first planting was around 50 pounds.

Here is over eight pounds of squash harvested this week.

This is the amount of squash I pick daily.
We have harvested 25 pounds so far.

Last but not least, a few field peas that were mixed in among the corn.

My DH would love a corn harvest like that. I bet the taste was superb.

WOW! That's alot of corn and squash! What do you do with field peas? does it taste like snap pea? or do you have to cook it first?

Mmmmm, I'd be eating corn for breakfast, lunch and dinner! I can only hope my small patch gives me some good ears. I'm finally getting some small yellow squash, so it shouldn't be too long before I can be showing my harvest of those, too.

Sustainably Modern - The taste is wonderful I will admit. It spoils you from eating store bought corn. Silly question, what does DH mean? I see the term used so often but wonder what it means?

Jenny - Thanks, field peas are cow peas. No one that live in the South that I know calls them cow peas. We generally just call them peas or field peas. I could go on and on, but here is a post I did on them last year.

Granny - It is hard not to do that, I try to space out my eatings so I get to enjoy it all year long. I will probably plant another summer batch when I get an opening in one of my beds. I can't wait to see your squash.
